Pumpkin Spice Oil Change??
Updated: Jan 6
The other day I was driving past a car repair shop and saw that on their billboard out front. What is this world coming to?? 🙄
Even though I'm not a huge fan of PSL's (sorry!) I do love the smells and colors and decor of fall. This year, I decided to step up my game for autumn decorations, especially on our front porch. Every time I drive past a house that has decorations up - ANY decorations - I slow down and scope it out. When someone has really great decorations, I go even slower, and maybe go out of my way to drive past their place so I can enjoy the view. I decided this year I wanted to be one of those people!
I was late to the game because the last two weeks of September were insanely busy with my performance schedule. I actually had 9 gigs in 8 days during the last week of the month. So when I finally had a day off it was Sept 30, and a lot of stuff was already cleared out!
I started at Home Depot. I bought six pumpkins 🎃 in 3 sizes (2 of each) and four mums. 💐 (Fingers crossed I don't kill them before it's time to put up the Christmas decorations! I have the worst black thumb!) I wanted hay bales and corn stalks but they were sold out of both.
Next was Michael's. All the fall decor was 50% off! Score! I got three small hay bales - only $10 each.
Then I hit up three different dollar stores and a thrift store to pick up some fake flowers, a couple of Halloween signs, and nine hairy spiders.
At home, I pulled out some stuff I already had:
- My fall wreath
- An old rod iron welcome sign I got at Goodwill a few years ago
- Some long and skinny fake flowers that don't match my inside decor anymore
- Some battery powered fairy lights in warm white
- One battery powered candle lantern I've had forever
- Seven tiny battery powered lanterns that were given to me after an event recently
I drank an iced coffee (because it was 90 degrees outside) and started arranging and creating and sweating. A lot. But when it was done I felt like I was one of the cool kids with the super badass front porch decorations!
And there you have it! I spent around $100 in total, but I feel like a million bucks!
Happy Fall, y'all!
